Ice Hotels
Three Nordic hotels rebuilt from snow and ice every winter and gone by spring. All three keep heated buildings on the same site, because the cold rooms are for sleeping in and very little else.

Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel
Sorrisniva has been rebuilt beside the Alta River every winter since 1999, and each rebuild is a genuinely new building: new plan, new carvings, new suites, melted away by spring. The ice comes from the river itself. Guests sleep in insulated sleeping bags on beds of ice covered with reindeer hides, and the practical business of the stay — changing, showering, eating, waiting out the small hours — happens in the heated buildings on the same site. Alta is far enough north that the aurora is a reasonable expectation rather than a promise.
Lainio Snow Village
Raised again each winter as a village of snow — restaurant, ice bar, chapel and sculpted corridors around the sleeping rooms, usually to a theme chosen for the season. Warm cabins stand alongside, and the Ylläs slopes are close.
Arctic SnowHotel
Built each December at Lehtojärvi outside Rovaniemi and held at about minus five degrees inside. Snow rooms sit alongside glass igloos, a snow restaurant, an ice bar and a sauna — the standard Finnish answer to a cold night.
Seasonal hotels rebuilt from snow and ice each winter, with warm buildings alongside.
Seasons, facilities and opening dates change without notice — check with the hotel before travelling.
An index, not an agency
cricketspro.com is an independent editorial index of hotels. We hold no inventory, take no bookings and earn nothing from a stay. Every property listed here is described as a building first: what it is, where it stands, and what a night in it actually involves.
